As marchers rallied across America Saturday to protest to the policies of the Trump administration, more than 2,000 people took part in a "Hands Off" protest in Stamford.

"This is all part of the 'Hands Off' movement we're seeing nationwide - and it's a vital function of democracy," said Pam Lewis, of Stamford.

Marchers met at Stamford's Mill River Park and then marched through the city, stopping at the WWE headquarters to protest Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, who they say "has played a pivotal role in the Trump administration's anti-democratic destruction of our national values."

"When I was growing up in the 1960s and the 1970s, we focused on expanding our democracy through a steady march toward equality for all – but now we're seeing the Trump administration rollback all of that progress," Lewis said.

A small group of counter protestors issued a statement saying, "We came out to say that a free and fair election gave President Trump a mandate from the American people, and that he's merely keeping his campaign promises. We believe all Americans, regardless of their politics, should give President Trump at least 6 months for his policies to take hold, and for the economy to turn around." They asked not to be mentioned by name.
