The
Florence Griswold Museum, situated on the banks of the Lieutenant River in Old Lyme, celebrates its history as the home of the Lyme Art Colony.
In the late 1890s, Florence Griswold transformed her family home into a boarding house, and many artists found their way to the 12-acre site. The Florence Griswold is often referred to as the home of American Impressionism.
The museum lights up it rooms and galleries as
Holiday Magic returns. The event runs until Jan. 4, 2026.
Nearly 300 unique art pieces, all on art palettes, adorn trees and mantles within the historic home and in the Kreible Gallery.
The many mantels in the home are decorated as well, each theme based on a chosen piece of art.
Miss Florence's Teas are part of the festivities as well. Reservations are required.
Visitors can receive $1 off admission by helping stock the shelves of local food banks. The museum is collecting nonperishables to be donated to
Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries.
