A Stamford family that has been living in their car for the last few months has found a home just in time for the holidays.
The Oakes family was forced to live in their car after all of the homeless shelters in the area were full for the holiday season and they had nowhere else to go.
Paul Trefry, a Stamford resident, saw the Oakes family's story on News 12 Connecticut and wanted to help.
He is currently letting the family live in a house on Lawton Avenue, previously lived in by his parents, until they are able to get back on their feet.
Jeffrey Oakes and his children met Trefry for the first time Wednesday, as he showed the family around their new home.
The family is hoping to get their two youngest children back from state foster care later this week. The kids were taken away due to the family's living conditions.
