Seniors who live in a Bridgeport apartment complex say an elevator outage has left them feeling like prisoners in their own apartments.

Residents say the one elevator in their three-story building near Walter Street has been broken for more than a month.

They say many of the residents who live there are in wheelchairs and have no way to get to the doctor or go food shopping.

"I have a problem with my legs to come up and down the stairs...it's kind of hard for us, especially for me and others because there's people with wheelchairs that cannot get downstairs. I make my way because I crawl upstairs. It's very hard and when I get us there, I have a bad night because my legs are so bad," said resident Luz Rivera.

News 12 reached out to the property manager but had not heard back as of Sunday night.
