Westport was celebrating its 24th First Night New Year’s Eve celebration without fireworks.
The annual event is held in Downtown Westport.
Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe tells News 12 the ice on the Saugatuck River prevented the town from safely putting on the fireworks show. But the rest of the celebration was set to go on as planned.
