(01/14/07) BRIDGEPORT (AP) - Officials at Bridgeport Correctional Center are investigating what they're calling an apparent suicide of a 59-year-old inmate in his cell. Correction department spokesman Brian Garnett says Alejandro Ramos-Rivera of New Haven was found alone about 7:15 p.m. Sunday with a bedsheet around his neck. Garnett says Ramos-Rivera was pronounced dead at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Garnett says Ramos-Rivera began serving a five-year sentence in February 2005 for criminal attempt. An autopsy is planned for Monday.
