The president of the Interfaith Council of Southwestern Connecticut is discussing the ramifications of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump's comments against Islam.

Dr. Kareem Adeeb, who came to the U.S. from Lebanon, says he worries that Trump's comments could create a danger for Muslims. The candidate is facing a storm of criticism after calling for a "complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the country.

Adeeb says that he has seen a lot of Muslim bashing in recent times, and comments like Trump's only feed into Islamophobia. He adds that any statements that instill hatred in this country are only a boon for Islamic State group.

The reality of banning Muslims from entering the U.S., Adeeb says, is a long way off, as Trump would have to be elected and have enough support from Congress to implement such a measure.

Adeeb chooses not to react to Trump's comments with anger or hate, but with love and affection. "You fight ignorance with knowledge," he says.

Were Adeeb ever to meet Trump in person, he'd ask him if he would read the Quran to draw the same conclusions.
