Experts say chronic sleep deprivation afflicts not only celebrities like Michael Jackson, but also regular people who suffer from anxiety or mood disorders.
Duane Belle says he began suffering from insomnia two years ago after he started having health problems. Belle says the chronic lack of sleep would cause him to be absent minded and forget the topic of a conversation mid-sentence.
Marc Landau, of Gaylord Sleep Medicine, strongly advises against self-medication and urges people afflicted with insomnia to seek professional help.
Landau adds that therapy alone can sometimes solve the problem or get to its root cause.
