Jacques Pépin, a culinary icon, is more than just a chef — he is a living legend. Born in France and a personal chef to heads of state, including Charles de Gaulle, Pépin brought his extraordinary talent and passion for food to the United States. While he may have been born across the Atlantic, he has long called Connecticut home.
As he approaches his 90th birthday, Pépin is a testament to the enduring power of a life dedicated to artistry and education. He has authored over 30 cookbooks, starred in numerous television series and earned countless accolades, including multiple James Beard Awards. His collaboration with his dear friend Julia Child on "Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home" remains a timeless masterpiece of culinary television, showcasing their camaraderie and shared joy in the kitchen.
Beyond his impressive professional accomplishments, Jacques Pépin has a warmth and approachability that has endeared him to generations of home cooks. His philosophy is one of simplicity and technique, proving that anyone can create delicious meals with the right guidance. His legacy is not just in the recipes he has shared, but in the countless lives he has inspired to find joy and confidence in the kitchen.
In honor of his upcoming 90th birthday, the Jacques Pépin Foundation has launched a series of 90 celebratory dinners across the country, a fitting tribute to a man who has dedicated his life to empowering others through culinary education. On of those dinners
will be held at the Madison Beach Hotel in December and feature a lineup of celebrated guest chefs.
