A judge has denied a motion by gun manufacturers to dismiss a lawsuit brought by the families of some of the victims in the Newtown school shooting.
Ten families have filed a lawsuit against Remington claiming the gun maker should not have sold a gun designed for military combat to civilians.
A 2005 law bars gun makers from most liability when guns are used in crimes.
A lawyer for the plaintiffs says, "We are thrilled that the gun companies' motion to dismiss was denied. The families look forward to continuing their fight in court."
A total of 20 students and six educators were killed in the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.
