A Bridgeport man will now serve 30 years in prison for stabbing his girlfriend to death.
A judge sentenced 37-year-old Alejandro Velez Friday.
As News 12 previously reported, Velez stabbed Tinese Benson during a domestic dispute back in 2014.
Police say Velez then barricaded himself in his mother's apartment and threatened to commit suicide.
Benson's family says faith has kept them strong during these tough times.
They say they'll continue to pray for Velez and his family while he's in prison.
