Officials say jury selection was completed Tuesday with the fourth and final alternate chosen for Jose Morales' upcoming murder trial.
However, in the late afternoon, one already selected juror had to be dropped.
Prosecutors, the defense team and the judge will have a status conference in two weeks to determine if a replacement will be chosen.
Morales is accused of killing Christine Holloway, the mother of his young daughter, Vanessa, in her home in Ansonia.
The case dates back to December 2019.
When police arrived, they discovered Holloway beaten to death and Vanessa nowhere to be found – she remains missing.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children released a new age progression picture on Tuesday depicting what Vanessa may look like today as a 6-year-old.
The trial begins April 7.
