A jury has reached a partial verdict in the trial of Raul “Lito” Valle, who was accused of fatally stabbing 17-year-old Jimmy McGrath and injuring three other teenagers during a 2022 house party in Shelton.
After several days of deliberations, the jury found Valle not guilty of murder and not guilty of first-degree manslaughter intentional in connection with McGrath’s death. He was also acquitted on multiple assault charges related to the other victims.
However, the jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision on several counts of reckless assault, prompting the judge to declare a partial mistrial. The court accepted the verdicts that were reached and is expected to consider the next steps regarding the unresolved charges.
Valle can be retried on the lesser charges the jury was deadlocked on.
Valle was found not guilty on the following charges:
Murder (Count 1)
First-degree manslaughter intentional (Count 1)
Second-degree assault (Count 4)
First-degree assault (Counts 2 and 3)
The jury deadlocked on:
Reckless assault charges associated with Counts 2, 3, and 4.
