It?s kickoff weekend around the Bronx, and two of the Bronx?s biggest high school football teams are opening their season against Brooklyn teams.
Preseason favorite Lehman will face a very familiar foe, the South Shore Vikings. The Lions beat the Vikings 28-26 in the first round of the playoffs last season. Lehman has won the last three meetings between the schools since 2004. According to Lehman coach Carmine Colasanto, the matchup is a battle of David and Goliath.
Meanwhile, the Kennedy Knights are set to face off against Brooklyn Tech. The Knights were ranked seventh in a preseason poll. The game marks the first meeting between the schools in five years. The Knights are led by junior quarterback Ozzie Garcia.
