A Stamford salon owner diagnosed with kidney failure is breathing a sigh of relief after a successful transplant.
News 12 reported that Jessica Rabasco, 29, found out in November her kidneys were only working at 6%. She was placed on a transplant list, but was told it could take five to seven years to find a match.
It was in July when John Rubino came in for his first “haircut appointment” at Tagliare Salon, but told the owner he was there for another purpose.
"I am here for a haircut, but I have to cancel my appointment. I am here for a kidney donation,” he said.
Two days after a successful surgery, they are recovering.
Rubino told News 12 that he felt relieved “knowing her life is going to completely change.”
“It's a unique feeling and you’re just happy to know she doesn't have to go to dialysis every other day,” he says.
Rubino heads home today. Rabsco will be home Friday.
