The leading voices in teen mental health gathered at Ox Ridge Elementary School in Darien this morning for the annual TeenTalk Summit, hosted by the nonprofit Kids in Crisis.
KIC says TeenTalk is the only program in Fairfield County that is both in schools and offers a 24-hour helpline.
"Kids in Crisis puts counselors right into schools...that's the truest form of street outreach," says Shari Shapiro, executive director of Kids in Crisis.
Since its founding in 1978, KIC has provided 24-hour services to almost 170,000 children, teens and their families, according to the group.
Anyone in need of help can contact KIC at 203-661-1911.
