State lawmakers are talking about a proposal to allow electronic lottery Keno games at bars, restaurants and bowling alleys.
Some lawmakers are hopeful that the machines will help generate revenue, while others don't see the benefits.
Sen. Bob Duff says that if the game makes $20 to $40 million, that would not be enough to fill the gap in the budget.
"To think Keno machines will somehow solve the problem is short sighted," Duff says.
While some establishments accept the idea, others question the move, which could take more money from customers during a difficult financial time.
The public will have to wait and see what lawmakers ultimately decide. Keno machines are allowed in a dozen states including Massachusetts and New York.
