Lawmakers eye proposal for Keno machines
State lawmakers are considering a proposal to allow the electronic Keno lottery game at bars, restaurants and bowling alleys.Proponents of the proposal say it will help generate additional revenue for the state. It is estimated that the Keno machines could mean up to $40 million in new revenue. State Senator Bob Duff (D-Norwalk) is against the plan. He says the plan is a quick-fix idea and that he doesn't believe expanding gambling is the right way to solve a budget deficit. Keno machines are currently allowed in a dozen states including Massachusetts and New York.
