In less than 20 minutes, with a small incision and without pain, a breast cancer patient can receive an alternative procedure to a lumpectomy.
The patient can be back to their daily route immediately.
This procedure is called cryoablation.
The cells die and the body absorbs it, leaving only healthy cells.
Right now, cryoblation is limited to a specific group of small, low-risk, early stage malignant breast cancer patients.
Dr. Andrew Kenler participated in a clinical trial focusing on this group. The results thus far are encouraging, with a 100% success rate.
Once the data is there, this process will be widely used and available to people across the country.
