Hundreds of swimmers will take to Long Island Sound this weekend to raise money for those affected by cancer. A group of local doctors will be swimming in the event together for the very first time.
"What we like to do as doctors is we like to fix things," Dr. Lauren Fabian, of Orthopaedic Specialty Group says. "But we can’t always offer all of the extra support that this organization can."
Since 1987, the annual event has raised millions for thousands battling cancer and their families.
"Being able to contribute is really important for us," Dr. Fabian says.
Swimmers will start on Saturday in Port Jefferson, NY and finish at Captain's Cove in Bridgeport.
