Owners of local casual restaurants say the recession has kept customers coming in for reasonably priced meals while they are strapped for cash.

According to Scott Kaluczcky, who owns the Silvermine Market, residents frequent his establishment for low-cost breakfasts and lunches, as well as dinner entrees, which cost between $7 and $10.

Peter Aitkin, the owner of the Black Duck in Westport, says his restaurant is known for burgers and beers ? a welcome offering to those who can?t afford fancy meals out during the tough economic times.

Kaluczcky says he?s lucky to have a solid customer base, but has also been advertising more and will offer a special Valentine?s Day deal to attract diners.
