More than a dozen local police chiefs voiced their concerns in West Haven Monday to Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (Conn.-3) about the lack of federal funding.
DeLauro says budget cuts are affecting the crime rate in many communities. She says identity theft complaints have risen by more than 30 percent in the last three years. DeLauro also says Connecticut police are seeing a rise in drug arrests as well as a spike in Internet predators.
Congresswoman DeLauro says there is also a need to increase homeland security funding. This year, the state received $12 million when only two years ago it received twice that.
