A longtime art supply store in downtown Westport closed its doors for good this weekend.
Loyal customers of Max's Art Supplies attended a goodbye party yesterday, thrown by the owner. According to owner Shirley Mellor, Max's was once a thriving hub for local artists.
"We had so many wonderful friends and so many wonderful artists," says Mellor. "This was truly a community of artists a few years back."
Max's, which was located on Post Road East, has been in business for 59 years.
