Speaking to a group of Bridgeport parents, Gov. Dannel Malloy says he wants to see the education reform bill beefed up before he signs it.
Malloy made his pitch to a group of parents at the North End Library on Wednesday night. He says the reform package as it stands now is too weak.
Malloy said big changes in accountability were needed to help close the achievement gap.
Many parents in attendance agreed, saying change is needed in public school systems. They feel Malloy is moving in the right direction.
Malloy will hold a formal town hall meeting at Central High School next Wednesday to discuss the plan.
