A man is being charged with arson following a fire at a community garden and education center in Bridgeport, according to authorities.
Flames broke out at the Reservoir Community Farm on Reservoir Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Police say Jimmy Gant was arrested after witnesses identified him as the culprit who set the blaze. A building was destroyed in the fire that was used to house tools and other supplies.
The farm provided fresh produce for public schools in Bridgeport. Employees say they are grateful for the support received from the city and community.
A fundraiser will be held Thursday night to help raise the money needed to replace the building.
