A Norwalk police officer is on administrative leave after being arrested on domestic violence-related charges. Officer Lillian Martinez, 29, was arraigned on two counts of breach of peace on Tuesday, the day after Stamford police arrested her on allegations from July 4.

Martinez is accused of following her ex-girlfriend's car, then getting into a dispute with her and another person when the car reached its destination. According to the arrest warrant, Martinez prevented the victim from walking away by holding her arms and pushing her back. The warrant also noted the victim said there were prior domestic violence incidents during their relationship that were never reported and that she'd blocked Martinez's number due to excessive calling.

In court, Stamford Superior Court Judge Colleen Zingaro issued a protective order barring Martinez from any contact with the woman. Zingaro also told Martinez to surrender her firearms, which Martinez acknowledged she'd done already.

Norwalk Police Chief James Walsh released the following statement to News 12:

“I am aware of the arrest of Officer Lillian Martinez which occurred in Stamford Connecticut on July 14, 2025. An internal affairs investigation of the alleged conduct has been ordered and this incident is being taken very seriously.

Officer Martinez has been placed on Administrative leave with all police powers suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

The department holds all of its members to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. We are fully cooperating with the Stamford Police Department and are committed to ensuring transparency and accountability.”
