Police say a West Haven man was stabbed to death during an altercation in Bethany Tuesday.

State police say they were called to 117 Hatfield Hill Road after a fight broke out between 38-year-old Ryan Tilman and another man. Officers who arrived at the scene found Tilman stabbed in the chest and the other man seriously wounded.

Investigators say after Tilman was stabbed, he got into his car, put it in reverse and passed out, causing it to crash. He was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he later died.

The other man has been identified as 51-year old Edward Dollinger. His injuries are not considered life threatening.
