A Bridgeport man is fighting for his life after a car crash in Fairfield.
Police say 25-year-old Sean Charles was heading south on Tunxis Hill Cutoff when he veered into the opposite lane, went airborne after hitting a curb and then struck a tree.
Police say they could not find brake marks on the road or any other indication that Charles tried to stop the car before hitting the curb.
Investigators say the fact that debris is spread across a 30- to 40-foot area around the point of collision indicates that "the vehicle was probably going at a high rate of speed."
Officials say they were able to speak to Charles when they arrived at the scene.
Charles was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where he is being treated for serious internal injuries.
