Darien police say a man took off with nearly $900 in cash he found on the ground at a local car wash.
The incident happened at Splash Car Wash on Route 1 back on Oct. 31.
Detective Mark Cappelli says a customer walked into the car wash and dropped a bank envelope filled with $880. When he came back to the business to find it, the money was long gone.
Police say they have video that shows a male and female in the car wash. The male picked up the envelope, counted the money and then took off.
Cappelli says the suspect drove off in a blue Volvo. Police are investigating the case as a larceny and using the surveillance video to identify the suspect.
Authorities say if the cash is handed over, the victim has the option to drop charges. However, as soon as the suspect is identified, police will make an arrest.
Police are asking anyone with information to give them a call.
