A man was wounded during a shooting early Sunday morning near the Charles F. Greene Homes in Bridgeport, according to investigators.

The Bridgeport Police Department says it was first alerted to the incident just after midnight when its ShotSpotter picked up 17 rounds outside of a store on Harral Avenue.

According to investigators, a 911 caller said the victim managed to walk across the street and into his apartment at the Charles F. Greene Homes. Police say officers found him alert and conscious with a gunshot wound to the back.

Paramedics took the man to St. Vincent's Hospital. His current condition and age were not immediately made available.

The incident marked the second shooting in Bridgeport over the span of around three hours. At around 9 p.m., a man was critically wounded outside of a birthday party on Benham Avenue.

Investigators say they do not believe the two acts of gun violence are connected.

The Bridgeport Police Department urges anyone with information about the Harral Avenue shooting to call Detective Tim Leonard at (203) 581-5253.
