Connecticut's state medical examiner's office ruled Wednesday that the Yale University graduate student died from asphyxiation caused by neck trauma.
The autopsy was completed three days after Annie Le's body was found in a campus research building. Police identified Yale lab technician Raymond Clark III as a person of interest, but say he is not a suspect.
Clark was taken into custody from his apartment in Middletown Tuesday night, but was released around 3 a.m. Wednesday. His attorney, David Dworski, released a statement saying his client is "committed to proceeding appropriately with the authorities."
According to police, DNA samples were taken from Clark, which they will now compare to evidence found at the crime scene. However, officials say they are still looking at everyone who had access to the laboratory building and will slowly narrow down potential suspects.
Police Chief James Lewis described the investigation as ongoing.
