Officials in Connecticut are investigating after a train from the Stamford Train Station derailed on the way to Grand Central.

It happened Thursday around 5 p.m. when a westbound Metro-North train on the New Haven line traveling in a slow-speed zone experienced a derailment just east of the Rye station.

The derailment caused five cars of the 12-car train to come off the tracks.

The train was due into Grand Central at 5:42 p.m. It derailed as the train was approaching the Rye station at slow speed. The train had around 185 passengers on board.

Several people were treated on scene for minor bumps and bruises, but the most serious injury is believed to be chest pain.

By 6:30 p.m., Metro-North had completed the transfer of passengers to another train.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
