The Mets will be back at Citi Field for their home opener April 8. Their public address announcer will be coming to Queens in midseason form.

Inside his Center Moriches house, Colin Cosell is making big league dreams come true. He's doing it by creating custom baseball intros for baseball fans.

"Send me your name, your jersey number and the position you'd be playing -- and the song you'd like to walk up to -- and I'll announce like just like I do at Citi Field," says Cosell.

Colin is grandson of Hall of Fame broadcaster Howard Cosell and the PA announcer for the Mets. He started doing his custom callups during his first season with the team two years ago.

"I was new, I wanted the fans to get to know me and I wanted to get to know them," he says.

Using social media and #CallMeUpColin, he got some fun requests. There have been birthdays, birth announcements and more.

But after a while, the requests slowed down, so Cosell stopped doing them. That is, until baseball stopped in March, and suddenly he had no games to announce.

"It was very jarring to have baseball just yanked away from us with two weeks before the season," he says. "I was feeling it, I know the fans were feeling it."

So, Cosell opened his computer and not only rekindled #CallMeUpColin, but it truly took off.

"There's many a tear shed, my wife Julia and I have sat there and watched every single one of them and some of them really do dug on the heart strings," says Cosell.

He says he's already done 1,200 callups and counting, including many for front-line workers like Flushing Hospital nurse Aldo Sabio.

"I was working that day ... it was like a war zone. I rushed to the bathroom, I opened the file," says Sabio. "I was like a kid...oh my god!"

Cosell says as long as the requests keep coming, he'll keep going.

"I love my job, it's the greatest job in the world, and if I can share it with the fans in any way shape or form, that makes it even better," he says.
