Michelle Troconis' habeas petition to vacate conviction in Jennifer Dulos case denied
Following the verdict, Troconis filed a habeas petition and alleged her constitutional rights were violated during the investigation. She had argued that Andrew Bowman failed to effectively represent her because he allowed her to be interview by police three times. The interviews were used against her during the trial.
Michelle Troconis' habeas petition, which argued that her conviction should be vacated and she should be released from prison because of ineffective council by her initial attorney in the Jennifer Dulos case, was denied Monday.
A judge concluded that the advice given by Andrew Bowman "to the petitioner fell within the wide range of reasonable professional assistance and because he was competently acting as her advocate at all times, the petitioner has not proven ineffective assistance of counsel."
In March 2024, a jury found Troconis guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, evidence tampering, conspiracy to commit evidence tampering and hindering prosecution in the disappearance and death of Jennifer Dulos.
