Some local homebuilders and city leaders say the mild winter has been a boon to their budgets, a 180-degree difference from this week last year, when snowstorms pummeled southwestern Connecticut.
Norwalk Mayor Dick Moccia says he hopes it stays this way so the Public Works Department doesn't have to tap into its snow-removal budget. Some area construction companies are also benefiting from the warmer weather.
However, not everyone shares that feeling, as some snow-removal companies are hoping for a few storms to supplement their income.
Moccia says any snow-removal money that isn't used will go back into the city's general fund.
