The ex-wife of disgraced former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle is suing the sandwich chain, claiming that Subway should have known he was a pedophile as early as 2004.
Last year, Fogle pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and admitted to traveling across the country to have sex with underage teens. His wife, Katie McLaughlin, divorced him shortly after his admission. She claims she and her children suffered undue emotional distress.
Mclaughlin says she filed the lawsuit to find out when Subway found out about Fogle's crimes, and why the company launched a campaign sending him into elementary schools.
"I have questions. Questions that someday my children will ask me and that I imagine the families of the 14 victims are asking," says McLaughlin. "Questions to which, I have no other way to get answers."
Subway, which is a Milford-based company, cut all ties with Fogle shortly after his arrest in 2015. The company has issued a statement saying it cannot comment on pending lawsuits.
