A firefighter was injured Thursday while responding to a blaze on West Main Street in Milford.
The fire started on the second floor of a building that houses several businesses. Firefighters say the fire spread quickly upstairs, prompting the sprinkler system to turn on. According to Capt. Chris Zak, the rain, combined with the water from the sprinklers, can weigh down firefighters? gear and make it difficult to move around.
The injured firefighter hurt his knee and is expected to be fine. The home, which is more than 100 years old, sustained water damage from the sprinkler system.
