The city of Milford is expecting 50,000 visitors this weekend for the 34th Annual Milford Oyster Festival.
Oyster and wine tasting got under way Friday as gourmet enthusiasts got an early start of the festivities. Many say the oysters are secondary to the festival?s family fun atmosphere that draws them in every year.
Boats began drifting into Milford Harbor, where the slips sell out quickly for the festival. Rides, shopping and live music round out the fun.
More than 20,000 oysters came through Saturday, all shucked by 10 professionals brought in.
The festival also helps raise money for more than 65 local nonprofit organizations.
