Milford Police Department was forced to lay off one officer and leave two other positions vacant after the local police union rejected a wage freeze, city officials say.
Officer Vaughan Dumas says reduced police presence will be evident in downtown Milford, where the department had eliminated bike patrols that were in charge of parking and traffic enforcement.
Milford police officials say from now on officers will patrol the area using squad cars.
