A quick thinking neighbor saved an elderly Milford woman from drowning Monday.
Hellen Galliopoli, 76, was in a raft about 300 feet from the shore at Farview Beach in Milford when it tore and began deflating. Luckily for Galliopoli, neighbor Pauline Davey was nearby and heard the woman's screams for help.
Davey was quick to action.
"I realized it would be to late for me to run up to a house, call 911 and try to get back into the water ? so I just dove in," says Davey.
Gallipoli is resting at her home. She told News 12 Connecticut that she is grateful to her lifesaver.
