The family of missing Greenwich honeymooner George Smith has officially appealed a $1 million settlement paid out to wife Jennifer Hagel-Smith.
Smith disappeared on his honeymoon cruise following a night of heavy drinking in July of 2005. In 2006, Hagel-Smith settled with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Smith's family claims she settled too quickly and took a lower dollar figure in order to keep embarrassing information under wraps.
"The cruise line admittedly has information regarding?the evening George disappeared," says Smith family attorney Michael Jones. "But they don't have to turn that information over?"
A lawyer representing Hagel-Smith says the settlement was reasonable and the Smith family's accusations are "unfounded and hurtful."
