A Bridgeport mother is pressing her daughter's school for answers after she says officials failed to inform her that her child broke an arm on the playground.
Shawniqua Bookhart says that when her 5-year-old daughter's grandmother picked up the girl from Jettie S. Tisdale School Thursday, the child had an ice pack on her arm.
Bookhart says her mother was only told that the girl was taken to the school nurse after an incident.
A subsequent visit to the hospital revealed her daughter had broken her arm, she says.
Bridgeport school officials are conducting an investigation into the matter and say Bookhart should have been told right away of the injury.
The superintendent says she would like to hold a meeting with principals, teachers and nurses to ensure that they follow protocol. She says officials will review surveillance videos from the cameras around the playground for more information.
