More than 350,000 children in Connecticut are receiving extra food assistance this summer through the state’s Summer EBT program, Gov. Ned Lamont announced.

Eligible families will receive $120 per child to help cover grocery costs while school is out, totaling more than $42 million in benefits statewide. The program works similarly to SNAP and is run by the Departments of Social Services and Education.

Most families qualify automatically, including those enrolled in SNAP, TFA, Husky A or approved for free or reduced-price school meals. Benefits were sent to existing EBT cards, while new cards are being mailed.

Families who believe they qualify but did not receive benefits automatically can still apply online through Aug. 31, 2026. State officials are encouraging those who have not received their cards or need replacements to contact the Summer EBT customer service line.

Anyone who did not receive a card and believes they qualify should call Connecticut’s Summer EBT customer service line at 1-844-503-6871, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anyone who needs a replacement card should call 1-888-328-2666.

Officials say the program helps ensure children continue to have access to nutritious food during the summer. Applications remain open through Aug. 31, 2026.

Separately, the state says all K-12 public school students will have access to free breakfast starting in the 2026-27 school year.
