A tenant was forced to change the lock on her apartment door Saturday afternoon, after a break-in left her feeling unsafe inside the place she's called home for seven years.

Police told News 12 the burglary happened Friday afternoon around 1 p.m. inside an apartment building on Tomlinson Avenue.

Two neighbors reported finding their apartment doors open when they returned home.

One neighbor said that their gold jewelry, watches, and two phones were stolen.

"It's definitely uncomfortable," said one impacted neighbor, Jess, who has lived in the building for seven years.

She said she came home and found her bedroom displaced. Her clothes were thrown all over her bedroom, and it seemed like someone had gone through her drawers, vanity, and makeup bag.

"It is alarming. It does come as a wake-up call that we do have to start being more careful about our surroundings in the building," she said.

A neighbor on the first floor shared Ring camera footage of a suspect who is believed to have picked the locks of the two apartments and taken some of the belongings.

In the video, the individual, who appears to be a man, is seen wearing a face mask, yellow gloves and carrying a toolkit.

The video shows the suspect putting their ear to a door, listening for any activity in the home, before walking away.

Investigators said there are no arrests, and the investigation is still ongoing.
