Mother of OD victim raising awareness about opiates
A Milford woman whose daughter died of a heroin overdose is working to build awareness about the dangers of opiates.
She says that by sharing her story of heartbreak and loss, she will hopefully spare other parents the unimaginable pain of losing a son or daughter.
Maddy Medina's 22-year-old daughter, Taylor Wilson, passed away eight months ago after taking heroin that was laced with fentanyl.
City and state leaders like Milford Mayor Ben Blake and Sen. Richard Blumenthal visited the Milford Green Sunday to pay tribute to Wilson as well as the activism of Medina.
Blake says he is working closely with city agencies, nonprofit groups and health care professionals to help curb the opioid crisis.
