A group of Bronx tenants marched Saturday to push for stronger rent laws that preserve affordable housing.
The tenants were joined by elected officials for the rally at 172nd Street and Jerome Avenue. They say landlords around the borough are preying on tenants living in rent-stabilized apartments -- at times asking for money or charging fees for air conditioners.
Residents say they feel like they are being pushed out of their homes.
The tenants will take their message to the Bronx Housing Court, marching to 165th Street and the Grand Concourse. Plans for a larger rally in Albany are currently in the works.
