Mourners paid their respects at the funeral for 34-year-old Brian Bakunas yesterday.
The Coast Guard recovered his body from the Long Island Sound eleven days ago.
Authorities say Bakunas was last seen swimming in the heavy surf the night of the storm.
Friends tell News 12 Connecticut he may have been swept off a pier by heavy waves.
The family says memorial contributions can be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
