The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is testing out its new 60-foot articulated bus in the Bronx.
The new bus, which features an additional door, runs along the Bx12 route. It is also 20 feet longer than the standard bus. Some residents who have ridden the new bus say the extra door means speedier trips. They also say the longer bus allows them to have more room.
According to the MTA, the new bus also has a yellow strip for passengers to open all three doors. Currently, bus doors need to be pushed or opened by a driver.
The MTA wants to purchase more of the new buses to run in a regular duty cycle on several routes across the city.
