ALERT: A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Sullivan and Ulster counties for Thursday afternoon into Friday. Accumulating snow is expected in this area.
We're tracking our first storm in months in the Hudson Valley, and it'll bring some much-needed rain as well as our first snowflakes in some neighborhoods. New this morning, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Sullivan County and western Ulster County for accumulating snow Thursday afternoon into Friday.
Wednesday will be beautiful across the Hudson Valley with peeks of sun and temperatures in the upper 50s. Overnight tonight, the wind will pick up and rain will arrive after 3 a.m. Thursday morning's commute will be wet, but temperatures will be warm enough for all rain to start. Neighborhoods under a winter weather advisory will transition into snow around sunset time on Thursday evening and pick up some accumulating snow overnight.
On Friday, mostly cloudy and breezy conditions are expected. Temperatures will be cold with highs struggling to get out of the low 40s. Any leftover precipitation could fall as snow. Accumulations will be light if any occurs at all during the daytime in lower and eastern parts of the Hudson Valley but stay tuned for any changes.
The weekend is dry, chilly, and windy.
