Those who work in hospitals during the pandemic were recognized Thursday for National Hospitalists Day.
Hospitalists are medical specialists who deal with internal medicine and dedicate their careers to hospitalized patients. Dr. David Regelmann, who works at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, has been on the front lines ever since the coronavirus started.
He says the coronavirus created challenges in the way hospital doctors manage their decisions.
Regelmann says there is still a lot to learn about the coronavirus, but the development of the vaccines have been amazing.
“The technology that we have now at our fingertips that has largely been motived by COVID-19 is really excited from a medical science perspective,” he says.
Regelmann says residents should get the vaccine that is most readily available.
